Pastry Mari-Trini was founded in 1969 by José Luis Hernández Robles, who with just14 years old began working as a kitchen assistant at the Alhambra Palace Hotel in Granada. It was there that his passion for confectionery began, anxiously awaiting the end of his day to help and learn in the pastry department of the hotel.
In 1963 José Luis began his career in Almuñécar, as head chef at Hotel Portamar. Here he met and married Pilar Méndez Sáez, who convinced her husband to start a business on his own. Finally on 14th February of 1969 the bakery opened its doors by first time adopting the name of them first daughter, "Mari-Trini".
At present, the business is directed by José Luis Hernández Méndez, the second generation, who has numerous awards, including the Best Pastry Master of Spain and becoming a finalist of the World Chocolate Masters in 2004. His way of maintaining the Traditional recipes combined with a renewed and modern way have made possible the continuity of confectionery until today.
